The Volkswagen Crafter Tipper Double Cab is hard to beat with its attention to detail, ease of operation and rugged good looks. It comprises of an electric-hydraulic pump unit mounted under the body. The operator controls are pendant mounted and installed at the right hand side of the driver's seat base. The lift mechanism has built in overload protection and standardised pre-finished parts for ease of maintenance and repair. There's also an impact resistant bulkhead for the protection of the cab from shifting loads.

The Double Cab carrys the crew plus the load. It has the capability of carrying seven passengers in comfort, with four doors there's easy rear access from both sides of the cab. Under the rear four seat bench there's even extra storage to stow valuables and tools. All seats have 3-point inertia reel seat belts and height adjustable head restraints for added safety.

Available on certain models is the 'Shiftmatic' lightweight gearbox which can be operated in either manual or automatic mode. In automatic mode all the gears are selected automatically by the control unit. In manual mode the driver pushes the gear lever forwards to change down or backwards to change up, giving all the benefits of a manual gearbox without the need for a manual clutch.
